Islamabad Police Dismiss 3 Officers Over Illegal Detention

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have dismissed three officers, including a sub-inspector, after a departmental inquiry found them guilty of illegally detaining a man and his father and abusing their authority.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad Ali Wasim issued orders for the dismissal of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Azim, Constable Muhammad Bilal and Constable Saad Imtiaz, according to a police statement.

The action followed a complaint alleging that the three officers had illegally detained a citizen and his father. Islamabad Police subsequently launched a departmental inquiry into the allegations.

The inquiry found the officers responsible for illegal detention and misuse of authority, the statement said.

The police said the three officers received a full opportunity to present their defence during the proceedings. However, authorities dismissed them after reviewing the inquiry report and its findings.

Meanwhile, DIG Ali Wasim said Islamabad Police would not tolerate abuse of authority, corruption or unprofessional conduct.

He also stressed that the department would protect citizens’ rights and ensure strict compliance with the law.

Furthermore, Wasim said the police would continue its accountability process without discrimination. He added that authorities would take strict departmental action against officers found involved in violating the law or misusing their powers.

The dismissals come as Islamabad Police reiterate their commitment to internal accountability and lawful conduct by personnel.
