Saudi-Houthi Conflict Escalates as Houthi Missiles and Drones Target Riyadh

A fire reportedly broke out at an Aramco oil refinery south of Riyadh after Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said the group had targeted the facility using ballistic missiles and long-range drones. Firefighters responded to the blaze as smoke and flames were reportedly visible near the Saudi capital. According to the information provided, Saudi officials had not issued a formal statement regarding casualties or possible operational disruptions at the facility.

Airstrikes Reported in Sanaa and Saada

The reported attack on the Riyadh facility was followed by intensified coalition airstrikes in Yemen. Local outlets and witnesses reported heavy explosions in Sanaa, with Saudi aircraft reportedly conducting at least 26 strikes against targets within the capital.

Additional missile strikes were reportedly carried out in Saada, a northern Houthi stronghold, with telecommunications infrastructure among the reported targets.

Breakdown of Truce Fuels Renewed Hostilities

The latest escalation follows the reported breakdown of a four year truce. According to the provided information, tensions intensified after an unauthorized Iranian flight carrying a Houthi delegation landed in Sanaa, prompting Saudi retaliatory strikes on the city’s airport and triggering renewed cross-border hostilities.

Over recent weeks, Houthi forces have reportedly launched a ground offensive along Yemen’s Red Sea coast, capturing key stretches and strategic positions near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The group has also reportedly launched missile strikes inside Saudi Arabia and declared a naval blockade affecting Saudi-flagged shipping lanes.

Fighting Continues Around Taiz

Heavy fighting has reportedly continued around the contested city of Taiz. Recent clashes in surrounding highland areas have resulted in significant casualties, with dozens of fighters reportedly killed on both sides as Houthi forces seek to strengthen their control over the city.
