Rana Sanaullah Warns of Action Against Obstacles

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah has issued a strongly worded warning concerning Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, saying that action will be carried out “at all costs” and that any obstacle to it would be removed.

Sanaullah said that if Chief Minister Sohail Afridi becomes a hurdle in the process, the obstacle would also be dealt with. His remarks come amid growing political tensions surrounding security and counterterrorism issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Rana Sanaullah alleged that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which he referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij,” was receiving support and sympathy from certain quarters.

He further claimed that the situation had become evident and linked the allegations to the security environment in areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

However, the statement represented Sanaullah’s allegations, and no independent evidence was provided in the remarks supplied.

Reference to Lakki Marwat Security Situation

Rana Sanaullah also referred specifically to Lakki Marwat, arguing that the security situation had become so serious that people were reluctant to gather in large numbers because of fears of suicide attacks.

His remarks highlighted the continuing sensitivity surrounding militancy and public security in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where attacks and counterterrorism operations have remained major political and security concerns.

The comments are likely to intensify the political debate surrounding Sohail Afridi and the provincial government. Any confrontation between the federal political leadership and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration could further deepen existing political tensions.

Sanaullah’s warning, particularly his statement that an obstacle would be “removed,” is expected to attract significant political attention because of its direct reference to the sitting chief minister.

The statement also comes against the backdrop of broader disagreements over counterterrorism policy, provincial governance and responsibility for maintaining security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
