PESHAWAR: A political march led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s own government is now disrupting routine public life in the province, with the Peshawar Board postponing matric supplementary examinations scheduled for Oct. 7-10 because of the prevailing political and security situation.
The postponement adds to the growing disruption caused by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march, raising questions over the government’s priorities as students and families bear the consequences of a political mobilisation led by the province’s chief minister.
The Peshawar Board said the exams were postponed because of the current situation and that new dates would be announced later. Exams scheduled after Oct. 10 will continue according to the existing timetable unless the board announces otherwise.
The development presents a striking contrast: while the KP government is leading a political march towards Islamabad, ordinary residents are facing disruptions to essential activities, including education.
The PTI launched the march from Lakki Marwat on Oct. 4 under Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. The march reached Kohat after passing through Karak and is scheduled to move towards Peshawar.

For students preparing for examinations, the immediate question is now when they will get another opportunity to sit their postponed papers.
