PESHAWAR: Sher Afzal Marwat predicts arrests instead of a clash in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the PTI-led long march continues toward Peshawar, saying the provincial government no longer appears to have full control over the situation.
The PTI leader said, based on his assessment of the prevailing circumstances, he did not expect a confrontation in the province. Instead, he suggested that some PTI leaders, including Shaukat Yousafzai, could face arrest.
Sher Afzal Marwat Predicts Arrests as PTI March Moves Toward Peshawar
Marwat questioned the effectiveness of the provincial government’s authority, pointing to the enforcement of Section 144 and the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law in areas under the provincial administration.
He also raised concerns about participation in the long march, claiming that the number of people accompanying the procession appeared significantly lower than expected as it moved through the province.
According to Marwat, the march is passing through several districts on its way to Peshawar, while containers have reportedly been placed at certain locations to restrict the movement of PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur.
PTI Long March Faces Uncertainty
Marwat said the circumstances suggested that the situation could lead to arrests rather than a direct confrontation. However, his comments represented his personal assessment and did not constitute confirmation of any government decision to arrest PTI leaders.
