NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Security forces killed 13 terrorists linked to Fitna al-Khawarij during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security sources said.
The operation targeted suspected militant hideouts after security forces gathered intelligence about the movement and presence of terrorist elements in the area.
According to the sources, security forces launched the operation following sustained surveillance and intelligence collection. They targeted the identified positions and killed 13 terrorists during the action.
The operation forms part of Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework, which seeks to dismantle militant networks, disrupt their infrastructure and prevent attacks.
Security forces have stepped up intelligence-based operations in the region to track and neutralise militant elements before they can establish bases or plan attacks.
North Waziristan has long been a key operating area for militant groups because of its rugged terrain and proximity to the Afghan border. Consequently, security forces have maintained surveillance of suspected militant movements and hideouts across the district.
