LAHORE: The Fact-Check has unveiled the truth about the viral video of a Pakistani Jawan saluting an officer of the Indian armed forces.
According to the details, a video goes viral on social media linking it to the Wagah-Attari Border, in which a Pakistan Rangers Punjab personnel is seen saluting an Indian BSF officer.
According to research, this video is not from the Wagah-Attari Border, but rather from the Ganda Singh Border in Kasur, because the border pillar clearly shows the number 191, indicating the Ganda Singh Border.
The barriers present there also match the same location, whereas the entry gates and border turret design at the Wagah-Attari Border are different.
According to sources, the video was filmed on October 4, 2026. Saluting each other during border duty can be part of military etiquette and protocol between the forces of both countries, and it should not be construed as a sign of any political or diplomatic breakthrough.
The video is real, but attributing it to the Wagah-Attari Border is misleading.
Did Pakistan Rangers personnel really salute an Indian officer at the Wagah Border?
The truth behind the viral video is that this incident happened at the Ganda Singh Border, not Wagah.
Additional Note on Pakistan-India Borders and Parades
Borders and the military activities conducted along them between Pakistan and India have always held significant geopolitical importance in the region.
Regular security forces (such as Pakistan Rangers and the Indian Border Security Force) are deployed at various points along the international border and working boundary between the two nations.
The Wagah-Attari Border and Kasur’s Ganda Singh Border are such prominent locations where security personnel from both sides perform routine and professional duties.
The daily flag-lowering ceremonies (Beating Retreat ceremonies) in border areas attract thousands of tourists worldwide.
Thousands of people are present during these parades and events to witness the enthusiasm, traditional marching, and high-pitched slogans of the troops from both sides.
While these events often showcase a competitive and emotional atmosphere, behind the scenes, military protocol, formal flag meetings, and mutual respect under predefined SOPs for peace or conflict scenarios are strictly maintained.

This is why routine occurrences or standard protocol duties are occasionally misinterpreted and given false contexts on social media, whereas ground realities strictly adhere to military rules and border etiquette.
