QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly on Friday unanimously passed two resolutions aimed at improving educational opportunities for children with visual and hearing impairments and establishing a trauma centre in Washuk district under the 2026–27 Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).
The session, chaired by Speaker Captain (Retd) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, also approved a resolution urging the government to seek a review of petroleum levies, unnecessary expenditures and official privileges to provide relief from rising fuel prices.
The resolution on disability rights called for Braille materials, assistive technology, sign-language educational resources, vocational training and effective implementation of the five per cent employment quota under the Balochistan Persons with Disabilities Act, 2017.
Another resolution, moved by JUI member Zabad Ali Riki, highlighted the absence of emergency medical facilities in Washuk and recommended establishing a trauma centre to provide timely treatment to accident victims.
The Assembly also debated petroleum levies, with members divided over the proposal. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti opposed it, citing security and economic concerns, while several opposition members supported the measure. Following a division and subsequent support from PPP member Sadiq Umrani, the resolution was declared passed.
