Governor’s Rule in KP: Development Work Picks Up Pace in Province

PESHAWAR: Development work and public service initiatives are gaining administrative attention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the imposition of governor’s rule, with officials pushing for faster construction and timely completion of ongoing projects.

A key example is the Jamil Chowk Underpass project in Peshawar, where the commissioner has directed officials to accelerate construction and ensure the project is inaugurated by November 15.

During a visit to the construction site, the Peshawar commissioner said work on the underpass was progressing at a fast pace and stressed the need to complete the project within the stipulated deadline.

He directed the authorities concerned to speed up construction to minimise inconvenience for commuters and instructed them to continue work in three shifts to ensure timely completion.

The commissioner said completing the Jamil Chowk Underpass on schedule and providing better travel facilities to citizens remained a top priority.

The project is expected to improve traffic flow and facilitate commuters in the area once completed. The instructions also highlight the administration’s focus on maintaining construction momentum while limiting the disruption caused to residents and road users.

The push to complete the underpass comes amid a broader emphasis on public service delivery and development activities under the province’s new administrative arrangement following governor’s rule.

However, whether this renewed administrative focus will translate into faster development across the province will depend on progress on other ongoing schemes, adherence to deadlines and measurable improvements in public services.
