Important Clues Emerge Regarding Pre-Information Supplied in Karak DSP Martyrdom Case

KARAK: CTD have found some important clues about pre-information supplied in Karak DSP Martyrdom case.

According to the sources, some important clues emerge regarding pre-information supplied in Karak DSP martyrdom case following initial investigations by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

According to CTD sources, preliminary findings indicate that local facilitators provided advance intelligence to terrorists regarding the movement and deployment of police personnel in the region, which regrettably led to the martyrdom of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and three other officers in Karak.

Initial reports suggest a strong suspicion regarding the political affiliation of the alleged facilitators, with links pointing toward the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Investigations reveal that the individuals currently under scrutiny actively attended public rallies organized by fugitive PTI Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shahid Khattak in the recent past.

CTD authorities are conducting a rigorous verification process to confirm whether these facilitators hold formal ties with PTI or are merely political voters associated with the MNA.

Sources confirmed that law enforcement agencies are carefully examining all forensic and digital evidence to establish concrete linkages between the facilitators, local political elements, and the militant network involved in the attack.

A Note on Militant Attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Areas

The security landscape in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has witnessed a concerning resurgence in militant violence, particularly targeting law enforcement agencies, security checkpoints, and critical infrastructure.

Southern and tribal districts such as Karak, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan have emerged as sensitive zones where local insurgent groups and splinter factions execute asymmetric attacks.

These militant operations increasingly rely on complex networks of local facilitators who provide crucial logistical support, safe havens, and real-time intelligence on troop movements.

The intelligence-led tactics of militants present significant operational challenges for local police forces and counter-terrorism units operating in rugged terrain.

In response, security forces have intensified targeted operations, intelligence gathering, and surveillance mechanisms to neutralize active cells and eliminate facilitation networks across the province.
