QUETTA: Three female students were injured, one critically, after three masked armed men stormed a girls’ degree college in Nushki, Balochistan, damaged security cameras and the principal’s office, and opened fire on students, according to initial reports.
The attackers, associated with Fitna al Hindustan, entered the college and damaged its closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and the principal’s office before firing at students, triggering alarm on the campus.
The injured students were identified as Mahmuna and Maryam, both from Qaziabad, and Rukhsana from Killi Mengal. Rescue teams shifted them to Mir Gul Khan Nasir Teaching Hospital for medical treatment. One of the girls was reported to be in critical condition.
Meanwhile, security forces were dispatched to the area following the attack. Further details about the assailants and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), an Indian proxy and known as “Fitna al-Hindustan”, is behind the attack. The group has previously been involved in targeting public places and residential areas, as well as abducting women and girls. The girls later often found inovled in terror attacks.
Last Thursday, October 22, security forces launched clearance operations in Gwadar after militants attempted attacks near the Gabd border crossing and in Gwadar city. According to the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces killed 10 terrorists, including a woman, during separate engagements. One civilian was also killed, while several vehicles were damaged, the military statement said.
The attack has renewed concerns over the safety of educational institutions and female students in Balochistan, where violence against schools and colleges threatens access to education and the security of local communities.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and determine those responsible.
