SIALKOT: The second person injured in a stampede at TikToker Mr Patlo’s mehndi ceremony has died, raising the death toll to two as police investigate the incident and search for the social media personality.
The gathering took place at a cricket ground on Daska Road, where a large crowd had assembled for wedding celebrations and an advertised prize draw. Police have arrested six people in connection with the incident.
The latest death followed an earlier fatality during the stampede, turning the wedding gathering into a tragedy for families who had travelled to attend.
Several other attendees suffered injuries. Initial accounts and subsequent news reports have provided different injury figures, leaving the precise number requiring treatment unclear.
The ceremony was organised for Ansar Jatt, widely known on social media as Mr Patlo. Wedding festivities and prize distribution were intended to take place at the same venue.
Police accounts indicate that a rush to enter the ground led to the deadly stampede. The circumstances surrounding entry arrangements and the movement of attendees are central to understanding how the gathering became dangerous.
The available reports describe a sudden surge involving people attempting to move into the venue. However, the complete sequence of events remains subject to investigation.
Safety Arrangements Under Scrutiny
The incident has brought attention to arrangements for managing a public gathering promoted through social media, particularly where wedding celebrations were combined with a prize draw.
Investigators must establish what arrangements existed for entry, crowd movement and emergency access, and whether organisers complied with applicable conditions.
