The closures will affect all public and private schools, colleges and universities in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan and Nowshera.

Emergency measures and governor’s rule were reportedly imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, followed by the detention of several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and the temporary closure of transport terminals.

District administrations announced separate closure orders in the four districts, citing the prevailing situation.

The District Education Officer in Swabi and the deputy commissioner said all public and private educational institutions across the district would remain closed on Monday.
