MURREE: Ten schoolchildren were injured after a van carrying students caught fire following a road accident near Lower Mohra Barahotra in Murree, rescue officials said.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, the van went out of control and plunged off the road, after which it caught fire. Students from both private and government schools were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Rescue teams reached the scene soon after receiving the alert and began an emergency operation to evacuate the children from the burning vehicle. Firefighters also responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control.
The injured children were given first aid at the scene before being shifted to the Civil Hospital Murree for medical treatment.
Deputy Commissioner Murree said the condition of all 10 injured children was currently stable and out of danger. Some of the children were later shifted to Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi for further medical treatment.
