ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has temporarily suspended flights to Riyadh amid the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, the airline’s spokesperson said on Friday.
The national carrier advised passengers to contact its call centre at 111-786-786 to confirm their flight status before travelling to the airport.
PIA apologised for the inconvenience caused by the suspension and urged passengers to seek the latest updates before departure.
The move comes amid reports of escalating regional tensions involving Yemen’s Houthi movement and Saudi Arabia. The reported attacks have raised concerns about aviation safety and the security of critical infrastructure across the region.
International airlines have also reportedly suspended services to Riyadh as the security situation evolves. Passengers travelling between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have been advised to verify their flight schedules directly with their airlines.
The escalation is linked to Yemen’s renewed conflict, in which the Houthis are fighting forces aligned with the internationally recognised Yemeni government, backed by Saudi Arabia. The latest developments have added to concerns that the wider regional confrontation could expand further.
Saudi Arabia has sought support from allied countries, including Pakistan and Turkiye, amid efforts to counter Houthi advances in Yemen. Any broader military involvement could further complicate an already volatile regional situation.
PIA has not announced when its Riyadh flight operations will resume. Passengers should rely on official airline updates for information about cancellations, rescheduling and the restoration of services.
