Peshawar: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived at the Governor House in Peshawar, where he was warmly received by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.
The two dignitaries immediately commenced a high-level meeting to review the overall political and security landscape of the province, alongside discussions concerning the potential long march.
Addressing the media following their talks, Mohsin Naqvi firmly stated that any attempt to storm Islamabad will not be permitted under any circumstances, warning that a repeat of the events of May 9 will strictly be prevented.
He remarked that Sohail Afridi’s attitude remains unconstructive, noting that he had previously taken a draft for negotiations to the President, with both the President and the Prime Minister fully informed of the developments.
This crucial interaction unfolded as government and PTI delegations concluded recent talks without any breakthrough.
The federal government maintains its stance that judicial orders prohibiting the long march from entering Islamabad will be rigorously enforced, urging the provincial administration to prioritize improving governance and cooperating with federal counter-terrorism initiatives instead.
Meanwhile, PTI leadership contends that the federal government is entirely responsible for the breakdown of negotiations, stating that their core demand for leadership access to the founding PTI chairman was rejected by the authorities.
Addressing the broader structural challenges in the region, bad governance and law and order challenges in KP have severely impacted public safety and institutional efficiency.
The provincial administration continues to grapple with persistent security threats, rising militancy, and a breakdown in effective law enforcement mechanisms.
Observers note that administrative lapses, a lack of proactive policy implementation, and political confrontations between provincial and federal entities frequently sideline vital issues such as economic development and public protection.
