Overview of Killing Incidents in Balochistan and Their Primary Causes

Balochistan has experienced persistent security challenges and violent incidents, including targeted killings, armed clashes, and insurgent attacks that claim the lives of civilians, security personnel, and non-local workers.

The key drivers behind these killings stem from a combination of geopolitical, socio-economic, and internal dynamics.

Outlawed militant groups frequently target state infrastructure, law enforcement personnel, and non-local laborers in an effort to assert regional autonomy and disrupt development projects.

Furthermore, widespread poverty, limited access to higher education, and perceived disparities regarding local benefits from natural resources contribute significantly to public unrest and youth radicalization.

Proscribed extremist groups also periodically target religious minorities and specific ethnic communities across urban centers like Quetta.

In remote areas, weak local governance and slow judicial processes often cause personal, land, or tribal disputes to escalate into deadly armed confrontations.
