The policy shift is designed to eliminate bureaucratic delays caused by central processing through the Home Department. Under the newly approved framework, Deputy Commissioners will now be empowered to take prompt, localized action on cases submitted directly by District Police Officers (DPOs).

According to official file records, the formal approval was granted on October 21, 2026. The new mandate supersedes the previous 2025 notification, which had assigned these executive powers to the Additional Chief Secretary (Home).

The legal foundation for the delegation rests upon Section 26 of the MPO Ordinance, supported by the emergency framework outlined under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.

While the official summary and approval have been finalized, the attached draft notification currently awaits the formal entry of reference numbers and issuance dates before publication.
