Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Expected to Visit Peshawar to Unveil Vision for 12 Districts

PESHAWAR: PM Shahbaz will visit to Peshawar to unveil his vision for 12 district tomorrow.

According to the details, in a significant administrative and political development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected to visit Peshawar to unveil vision for 12 districts following the recent imposition of Governor’s Rule and emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The visit comes upon a formal invitation extended by KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi.

During his stay in the provincial capital, the Prime Minister is scheduled to chair a high-level security meeting on law and order, where senior officials will brief him on counter-terrorism measures against extremist elements and the eradication of Fitna-al-Khawarij.

A key highlight of the visit includes meetings with members of the newly formed Area Representative and Development Council, established for 8 merged districts and 4 southern districts.

As Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected to visit Peshawar to unveil vision for 12 districts, he will outline a comprehensive federal roadmap focused on sustainable peace, economic rehabilitation, infrastructure improvement, and youth empowerment across these vulnerable regions.

Governor Kundi is also expected to apprise the Prime Minister regarding regional challenges, including flour and wheat shortages, gas and electricity load-shedding, and security demands.

Official sources confirm that as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expected to visit Peshawar to unveil vision for 12 districts, the federal government aims to directly address provincial governance gaps and accelerate socio-economic progress.

 Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Article 234 of the Constitution represents a pivotal step by the Federal Government to restore administrative stability, public order, and state authority amid heightened security challenges.

Invoked under extreme circumstances—such as persistent governance failure, severe law and order breakdowns, or terrorist threats—Governor’s Rule temporarily transfers executive authority from the provincial cabinet to the federally appointed Governor.

In the context of KP, direct federal oversight allows the state to streamline counter-terrorism operations, strengthen law enforcement machinery, and execute targeted development programs in sensitive regions without political friction.

While critics view Governor’s direct administration as a departure from provincial autonomy, proponents argue it is a necessary legal measure to protect civilian lives, restore constitutional order, and ensure seamless coordination between federal agencies and local administrations until normal governance is reinstated.
