Punjab Government Measures for Public Welfare

The recent decision by the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, to restructure flour bag sizes from 20kg to 10kg is part of a broader, proactive strategy designed to improve public welfare and ensure the fair availability of essential commodities across the province.

The focus on smuggling control, evidenced by the orders for stricter inter-provincial border security, directly supports this objective by protecting the province’s internal resources for its citizens.

Furthermore, directives to expand wheat cultivation on state land reflect a long-term commitment to enhancing provincial food security.

Deputy Commissioners are also being empowered and tasked with supervising essential supplies, such as ensuring proper storage of fruits like apples and dates in cold storage, and exploring the establishment of ‘Mandi Marts’ across the province to further stabilize prices.

These coordinated actions, reinforcing food security, market stabilization, and accessible supplies, underscore the government’s dedicated focus on addressing immediate public needs while building a resilient food distribution system for long-term welfare.
