KARACHI: The Model Criminal Court East sentenced police officer Shahryar to death after he was found guilty of murdering a youth named Aamir during an alleged fake police encounter in Gulistan-e-Johar. Meanwhile, co-accused Nasir and Faisal were sentenced to life imprisonment.
The court also ordered all three convicts to pay PKR 500,000 each in compensation to the heirs of the victim.
According to the prosecution, at the time of the incident, Shaheen Force police personnel signaled Aamir to stop near Aladdin Park. However, when he failed to stop, the police officers pursued him.
The prosecution stated that the police personnel chased him into a residential flat and opened fire on Aamir inside. The officers initially portrayed the incident as a police encounter.
A case against the accused was registered at the Sharea Faisal police station in 2022.
