Islamabad Traffic Alert: Major Roads Face Diversions Ahead of Cricket Teams’ Movement

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad traffic police have announced diversions on parts of the Expressway and Srinagar Highway ahead of the movement of visiting cricket teams, warning motorists of possible congestion and travel delays.

According to an Islamabad Police spokesperson, traffic will be diverted at several points between Serena Chowk and Ninth Avenue on Srinagar Highway.

During the diversions, motorists will be directed to use alternative routes, including Suhrawardy Road and the service roads in sectors G-8 and G-9. Traffic heading towards Zero Point and Faizabad from Faisal Avenue and Ninth Avenue will be routed through the eastern service road.

Commuters travelling from Korang towards Islamabad have been advised to use Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Murree Road, I.J. Principal Road and Faquir Aipee Road.

If Korang Expressway, Murree Road or Club Road is closed, motorists can use Lehtrar Road and Park Road as alternative routes, the spokesperson said.

For traffic leaving Islamabad, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road have been designated as alternative routes. Commuters travelling from Bhara Kahu towards the capital have been advised to use Bani Gala and Park Road.

Police warned that traffic pressure could increase on several major roads during the diversion period and advised motorists to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys.

Traffic police personnel will remain deployed at various points to guide commuters and facilitate the flow of traffic, the spokesperson said.

Motorists have also been advised to follow Islamabad Police’s social media accounts for updated traffic information and route guidance.
