ISLAMABAD: Calls to Disclose Assets and Tax Returns have intensified after Musawar Abbasi, CEO of Azad Digital, publicly challenged Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to reveal his declared assets, income sources and income tax details.
In a strongly worded statement, Abbasi questioned the JUI-F chief’s financial transparency while highlighting his own tax contributions for the current year.
“I paid Rs. 160 million in taxes this year, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Sahib! How much tax did you pay?” Abbasi stated, challenging the veteran politician to make his tax details public.
He also called on Fazlur Rehman to clarify the total value of his declared assets, the exact amount of income tax paid during the latest fiscal year and the sources of income supporting his financial activities.
Disclose Assets and Tax Returns: Call for Financial Transparency
Abbasi’s challenge has brought renewed attention to the broader debate over financial accountability, public disclosure of assets and tax compliance among Pakistan’s political figures.
The demand highlights calls for greater transparency in public life, particularly regarding the financial affairs of political leaders and public representatives.
However, the questions raised by Abbasi do not, in themselves, establish any tax irregularity or financial wrongdoing on the part of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
