RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army successfully tests the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile, marking a significant technological milestone in the country’s strategic defense capabilities.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan Army today conducted successful test launch of Hypersonic Ballistic Missile, Fatah-2 Extended Range (ER). The weapon system is equipped with advanced navigation and state of the art avionics. #Fatah2
It is capable of engaging targets with high precision and defeating enemy’s Missile Defence Systems due to its unique trajectory and maneuverability features.
Fatah-2 ER with it’s extended range will further enhance Army’s reach and capability of engaging deep targets.
Today’s launch was witnessed by Commander Army Rocket Force Command (Comd ARFC), senior officers from Pakistan Army and committed scientists and engineers. Commander ARFC appreciated the dedication and technical prowess of scientists and engineers.
The President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff & Chief of Defence Forces and Services Chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on successful test launch of Extended Range version of Fatah-2 weapon system.High-Precision Precision Strike Capability
The successful flight test of the Pakistan Army successfully tests the extended-range version of the Fatah-2 hypersonic ballistic missile system was witnessed by senior military leadership, strategic commanders, along with defense scientists and engineers.
Military officials highlighted that the induction and enhancement of the extended-range Fatah-2 variant significantly bolsters the Army Rocket Force Command’s conventional deterrence posture.
Designed for deep-strike precision capability, the missile’s maneuverability and velocity make it a formidable weapon against static and high-value strategic targets while guaranteeing high survivability in hostile operational environments.
Pakistan’s Advancement in Modern Weapons and Warfare
Over the past two decades, Pakistan has engineered a strategic pivot toward modernizing its armed forces to address complex multi-domain security challenges.
Moving beyond traditional warfare doctrines, the country has heavily prioritized indigenous defense research, precision technology, and network-centric warfare capabilities.
Central to this strategic evolution is the rapid development of sophisticated conventional deterrence weapons—such as hypersonic cruise missiles, stealth-capable air-launched platforms, and maneuverable ballistic systems.
A defining characteristic of Pakistan’s technological progress is the establishment of the Army Rocket Force Command, which streamlines long-range precision fire doctrines.
Beyond missile technology, Pakistan’s defense industry—led by organizations such as the Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS)—has made rapid strides in uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare (EW) systems, modern anti-drone shields, and cyber capabilities. Strategic partnerships, paired with robust domestic engineering, have enabled the nation to produce high-end platforms at a fraction of international development costs.
Furthermore, integrating advanced inertial navigation and satellite-assisted guidance systems into tactical battlefield platforms ensures that Pakistan’s armed forces maintain operational deterrence and high-precision targeting accuracy.
As regional power dynamics evolve, Pakistan continues to emphasize qualitative force multipliers, AI-driven command structures, and resilient air defense architectures to ensure full-spectrum deterrence against evolving military threats.
