Pakistan Gold Market Witnesses Fresh Surge

KARACHI: The local bullion market in Pakistan recorded a sharp upward trend as gold prices witnessed a significant increase, pushing rates past major threshold values.

According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola increased by Rs 4,300, settling at a new high of Rs 441,636.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of gold surged by Rs 3,686, moving the trade value to Rs 378,631. Market analysts attribute this domestic jump directly to international shifts.

In the global bullion market, the price of gold appreciated by $43, driving the international rate to $4,191 per ounce.

Local jewelers note that continuous fluctuations in international metal values alongside currency dynamics heavily influence the domestic market trends, directly impacting buyers and investors across major cities including Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Gold Rates in Pakistan: A Two-Year Retrospective Review (2024–2026)

Over the past two years, the gold market in Pakistan has experienced an extraordinary and unprecedented bull run. Back in mid-2024, standard 24-karat gold was hovering around the Rs 240,000 to Rs 250,000 per tola range.

However, persistent inflationary pressures, currency devaluation, and aggressively rising global safe-haven demand pushed prices on an exponential upward trajectory throughout late 2024 and 2025.

By entering 2026, domestic rates broke historical barriers, scaling past Rs 400,000 and occasionally flirting with even higher peaks during periods of acute geopolitical and economic strain.

While minor monthly corrections have offered brief relief, the overarching trajectory reflects a massive near-doubling of gold values over a 24-month span.
