NEW DELHI: Bollywood actor and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmaker Kangana Ranaut has taken a sarcastic swipe at veteran actor and Samajwadi Party leader Jaya Bachchan after a video showing Bachchan reacting angrily to a journalist and moving a microphone away went viral on social media.
In the video, Bachchan appears to object to a journalist’s question concerning a protest placard. She tells the reporter not to misrepresent the issue. When the journalist asks what the matter is, Bachchan responds that she will not explain it.
Ranaut later shared the video on her Instagram Story and commented sarcastically on Bachchan’s response.
Ranaut wrote that it was ironic to sit in a protest to present one’s position before the world, but when asked what that position was, respond by saying, “I will not tell.”
Bachchan has been participating in protests by opposition parties against India’s Election Commission. The demonstrations have focused on allegations and concerns raised by opposition groups regarding the country’s electoral processes.
