Shock Result: Only 3 of 1,024 Pass KP Civil Judge Exam

PESHAWAR: Only three of 1,024 candidates passed an examination held by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission to recruit 105 civil judges, according to the commission.

The commission received 3,097 applications for the civil judge recruitment process. A total of 1,024 candidates appeared for the examination.

Around 85% of candidates failed the General English and English Essay papers, according to the commission.

About 68% of candidates also failed the General Knowledge paper.

The results showed that 41% of candidates failed Civil Law-I. Another 46% failed Civil Law-II.

Successful candidates asked to submit documents

The commission directed all three successful candidates to submit their attested documents within 15 days.

It also said candidates could apply for a recount of their marks if they wanted their scores reviewed.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has expressed concern over the results. It has called for the notification to be withdrawn.

Bar council questions recruitment process

The bar council said the results had raised questions about the recruitment process and examination standards for civil judges.

It also pointed to an existing shortage of judges and a large backlog of pending cases in the province.

The council has called for future civil judge recruitment to be conducted through the high court instead of the public service commission.

It also urged the chief justice to take notice of the commission’s results notification.

The bar council said the recruitment mechanism should be amended, if necessary, to give the high court authority to appoint civil judges.
