PANAJI: Veteran Indian actor Nana Patekar died of a heart attack caused by a blood clot in a major coronary artery, according to post-mortem findings reported by Indian media. The 75-year-old actor died in Goa on October 8, leaving behind a career spanning almost five decades in Hindi and Marathi cinema.
A senior doctor at the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital said the examination found a blockage in Patekar’s left main coronary artery, according to a PTI report carried by The Times of India.
The findings attributed the heart attack to a blood clot associated with underlying coronary artery disease. The artery supplies blood to a substantial portion of the heart, and the blockage disrupted that supply.
Doctors classified the death as natural. Separately, IANS reported that Goa Police confirmed the findings and informed the actor’s family, which had raised no objection to the medical report.
Patekar became unwell at his residence in Dona Paula, near Panaji, during the early hours of October 8. His caretaker contacted a nearby private hospital and requested an ambulance.
Medical personnel attempted cardiopulmonary resuscitation for approximately 45 minutes, but were unable to revive him. According to the PTI account, he was declared dead at 5:10am.
His body was subsequently transferred to Goa Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem examination, which established the medical cause of his death. The Times of India
