LAHORE: Noreen Niazi moved from Lahore jail to hospital on Wednesday after experiencing high blood pressure, according to her lawyer, Rana Mudassar Umer. She was transferred from Kot Lakhpat Jail to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology on the recommendation of jail doctors.
Speaking to Dawn Umer said Noreen was brought to the hospital at around 7:30pm, where doctors conducted medical tests to assess her condition. He also claimed that her family had not been informed about her deteriorating health.
Noreen is the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan. She and her sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, have been detained since September 21 under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960, following orders issued by the Lahore deputy commissioner.
Their detention was initially ordered for 30 days and was subsequently extended on October 7, according to reports.
Noreen Niazi Moved from Lahore Jail to Hospital as Lawyer Raises Concerns
Umer alleged that jail authorities had repeatedly denied medicines to Imran Khan’s sisters and said that family members and lawyers had not been permitted to meet them. He added that he had submitted several applications to the Punjab home secretary and Lahore deputy commissioner seeking permission for meetings.
The lawyer also referred to an earlier case involving Uzma Khan, whom he described as a heart patient, alleging that her medicines were provided only after her husband approached the Lahore High Court.
However, a senior jail official rejected the allegations, telling Dawn that inmates were permitted to receive medicines and daily-use items and that the three sisters were receiving such provisions.
Regarding meetings with family members and lawyers, the official said permission fell under the authority of the Lahore deputy commissioner. Jail authorities could facilitate meetings upon receiving a written order specifying the individuals concerned.
Imran Khan’s Sisters Remain in Detention
The three sisters were detained under Section 3 of the MPO as the PTI prepared for a planned protest march towards Islamabad. Their continued detention followed an extension communicated to the Lahore High Court, according to the report.
The detentions have drawn attention amid broader political tensions surrounding the PTI’s campaign for Imran Khan’s release and its demands for constitutional supremacy.

Noreen’s medical condition, the allegations concerning access to medicines and the restrictions on family meetings remain key issues raised by her lawyer, while jail authorities have disputed the claims regarding the provision of essential items.
