ISLAMABAD: Pakistanis will enjoy three successive holidays in the moths of November.
According to the sources, students and government employees across Pakistan are set to enjoy an extended break as three consecutive public holidays align in November.
According to the official calendar, the nation observes a public holiday on November 9 to mark Iqbal Day, honoring the birth anniversary of the National Poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
This year, November 9 falls on a Monday. Coupled with the preceding weekly weekend off on Saturday and Sunday (November 7 and 8), public sector workers and educational institution students will experience a long weekend comprising three consecutive public holidays.
All schools, colleges, universities, and federal offices will remain closed during this period, offering citizens an ideal opportunity for leisure and family gatherings.
Official Holidays in Pakistan in 2026
The Government of Pakistan, through its Cabinet Division, releases an official annual schedule outlining fixed national observances and variable religious holidays.
National observances remain fixed on the Gregorian calendar, starting with Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5, followed by Pakistan Day on March 23, Labour Day on May 1, Independence Day on August 14, Allama Iqbal Day on November 9, and Quaid-e-Azam Day alongside Christmas on December 25.
Furthermore, Youm-e-Takbeer is observed on May 28 to mark the country’s historic nuclear tests.
Religious holidays follow the Islamic lunar calendar (Hijri) and are contingent upon the official moon-sighting decisions of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Key Islamic observances include Eid-ul-Fitr (three days in Shawwal), Eid-ul-Azha (three days in Zil-Hajj), Ashura on 9th and 10th Muharram, and Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) on 12th Rabi-ul-Awal.
Additionally, the state grants optional holidays to minority communities, allowing non-Muslim government personnel to observe cultural and religious festivals such as Easter, Diwali, Guru Nanak Jayanti, and Holi.
