ISLAMABAD: Advisor to PM Rana Sanaullah says that the KP Assembly will be restored in six months.
According to the details, Speaking to media persons at Parliament House, Prime Minister’s Special Adviser Rana Sanaullah stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly will be restored after six months, enabling the house to elect its own leader and form a new provincial government.
Addressing the ongoing KP political situation, Sanaullah emphasized that the federal government is formulating a comprehensive strategy to fill the political vacuum in the province.
He criticized the previous PTI-led provincial administration, alleging that it prioritized political gains over vital national interests.
The Prime Minister’s adviser underscored that Governor’s Rule will remain enforced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa until terrorism is completely eradicated from the region.
Clarifying the federal position, he stated that PTI will not be allowed to indulge in activities contrary to national security, though lawful political actions remain permitted.
Dismissing rumors of deceiving JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Sanaullah reiterated respect for the veteran leader and clarified that the Prime Minister had explicitly linked discussions to the termination of PTI’s sit-in and anti-terrorism cooperation—demands that PTI refused to accept.
He added that legal action would proceed against Sohail Afridi based on evidence in May 9 cases, while defending former minister Faisal Vawda during the discussion on the current KP political situation.
Note on PTI’s Long March and Governor’s Rule Enforcement
The enforcement of Governor’s Rule and state of emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa marks a significant turning point triggered by escalating political confrontations surrounding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) long march toward Islamabad.
PTI launched the protest call to demand the release of party founder Imran Khan and challenge federal policies.
However, the federal government maintained that the provincial leadership was utilizing official resources and state machinery to fuel political unrest rather than addressing pressing governance and security challenges within the province.
Invoking Constitutional provisions under Article 232 and Article 234, the federal administration suspended the PTI-led provincial government and placed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Governor’s Rule.
The decision was officially justified as an administrative and counter-terrorism necessity to restore law and order, counter militant resurgence in sensitive border districts, and prevent nationwide political instability caused by the march.
