BANNU: A government girls’ middle school in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is struggling with a deteriorating building and a lack of basic facilities, with only five teachers available for around 400 students.
Government Girls Middle School Umar Chakdandan also faces a shortage of essential facilities, including washrooms, making it difficult for students to continue their education in a safe and comfortable environment.
Teachers at the school said the classrooms had become extremely old and dilapidated, raising fears that an accident could occur at any time. They urged the relevant authorities to immediately repair and renovate the school building.
The headmistress said only one washroom was available for hundreds of students, causing considerable difficulties for the girls.
She added that several applications had been submitted to the commissioner’s office seeking improvements to the school’s deteriorating condition and the provision of basic facilities. However, no action had been taken so far, she said.
The school’s condition has raised questions about the provision of safe buildings, adequate teaching staff and essential facilities in government educational institutions across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
