GHAZNI: Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani has said the Taliban administration itself is not fully following Islamic Sharia, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the path of its predecessors, urging those in power to reform themselves before seeking to correct others.
According to Afghanistan International, Haqqani made the remarks while addressing a graduation ceremony at Noor-ul-Madaris religious school in Andar district of Ghazni province. The Taliban Interior Ministry also confirmed his participation in the event on Friday, November 6.
Haqqani said resolving the problems facing society and the public required individuals to focus first on personal reform and spiritual purification.
He identified the conduct of officials as a key concern, saying it did not fully conform to Sharia, the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) or the practices of earlier Islamic scholars.
He said that if people spent every moment of their lives following Allah’s commands, the Prophet’s teachings and the example of their predecessors, problems and difficulties would no longer persist.
The Taliban interior minister urged the madrasa graduates to correct their own character and actions before attempting to reform others, and to follow divine commands in their true spirit.

He said rulers could not reform others unless they first examined their own conduct and held themselves to the same standards of accountability they demanded from the public.
Haqqani also urged officials not to blame others for their shortcomings, but to prioritise public welfare and improve their own behaviour.
He said genuine reform would become possible when people showed the same concern and compassion for other societies and nations as they did for themselves.
