SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Security authorities are investigating the presence of a suspected militant at a political gathering in the Makin area of South Waziristan, according to security sources.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were reportedly assembling in Makin before departing for Gandi Chowk in Lakki Marwat when security agencies received information about the presence of suspicious individuals among the participants, sources said.
Authorities subsequently reviewed available photographs and other information as part of efforts to identify the individuals seen at the gathering.
Suspected Militant’s Alleged Presence at PTI Gathering, Suspected Identified
According to security sources, a man carrying a weapon in one of the photographs has been identified as Shahidullah, alias Ghazi, a resident of Makin.
Sources said that Shahidullah has links to the Gul Bahadur militant group and is wanted by security agencies. They further claim that he may have been involved in militant attacks in the region.
The identity of the individual and the militant links could not be independently verified. The claims remain subject to confirmation through official investigations.
Search and Surveillance Operations Underway
Security sources said search and surveillance operations were being conducted in several areas to locate the individual and establish the identities of other suspicious persons reportedly present at the gathering.
Authorities are also examining photographs and other available information to determine whether any other individuals at the gathering have links to militant organizations.
Security Concerns
South Waziristan remains a sensitive security region because of the presence and activities of militant groups. Security agencies have maintained heightened surveillance in the area in response to security threats.
