ISLAMABAD: Deepening internal rifts and a fierce competition for party offices within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have broken out into the open once again, following explosive claims made by senior party leader Sher Afzal Marwat regarding the distribution of upcoming Senate tickets.
PTI Faces Internal Turmoil Over Dispute on Senate Nominations
According to Sher Afzal Marwat, party Secretary General Salman اکرم راجہ (Salman Akram Raja) has set his sights on securing a Senate seat. Marwat alleged that Salman Akram Raja is maneuvering internally to sideline senior jurist and party leader Barrister Ali Zafar in order to secure a nomination for himself. Marwat’s public statements have laid bare ongoing factional infighting within the party’s upper echelons.
Political analysts note that despite the broader political challenges and crises facing the country, the pursuit of personal offices by prominent figures highlights persistent friction and divergent priorities within PTI’s leadership.
Barrister Ali Zafar’s Response
In the wake of the mounting controversy, Barrister Ali Zafar felt compelled to defend his position.

Emphasizing the need to strengthen the party’s parliamentary committee in decision-making processes, he clarified that he holds no personal ambition or attachment to official positions.
Concerns Over Mutual Trust
Observers point out that Marwat’s disclosures cannot be easily dismissed, as they point to a pronounced deficit of mutual trust among senior leaders. Analysts argue that such public feuding and internal pressure during a delicate political landscape severely undermine party discipline and unity.
