ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has unveiled comprehensive details regarding a modernized payment framework designed to facilitate eligible women in receiving financial assistance while aggressively curbing unauthorized deductions.According to BISP Additional Secretary Dr. Asmat Nawaz, the new system addresses geographical limitations where conventional bank branches are scarce by continuing disbursements through authorized bank agents who remain directly accountable to their parent financial institutions.

BISP Introduces Interoperable Digital Payment System

Under the newly introduced interoperability framework, beneficiaries can now withdraw their financial aid from any bank, at any time, and on any day, significantly enhancing accessibility and convenience.

Eligible low-income households receive financial assistance of Rs 14,500 every three months to help shoulder daily living expenses and fulfill basic household needs.

To promote financial inclusion, BISP has confirmed that beneficiaries do not need a smartphone to open a digital wallet. The system is fully compatible with basic feature phones (simple mobile phones), ensuring accessibility for women lacking advanced devices.

Building on its foundation since 2008, the introduction of a dedicated Social Protection Wallet specifically for BISP beneficiaries aims to optimize transparency, enforce strict accountability, and eliminate illegal fee deductions by intermediaries.

Beneficiary Guidance and Safeguards

BISP has advised recipients to carefully count their full disbursement amount upon collection and retain all transaction receipts or proofs. Beneficiaries encountering unlawful deductions by any agent are urged to immediately report the incident to relevant authorities for swift disciplinary action.
