Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi has condemned reported Houthi ballistic missile attacks towards Makkah and Madinah, declaring that the security of Islam’s two holiest sites cannot be compromised.
Ashrafi called for immediate emergency meetings of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations Security Council.
He urged Muslim leaders to adopt a clear, united position on protecting the holy sites and supporting Saudi Arabia.
Ashrafi described the sanctity and security of the Haramain Sharifain as a “red line” for Muslims worldwide.
He said the Muslim community stood alongside Saudi Arabia’s leadership and people in defending the holy sites.
The statement placed the protection of Makkah and Madinah at the centre of his appeal, presenting their security as a shared concern for the entire Muslim world.
The council chairman maintained that threats involving these sacred locations demanded a firm and collective response from Islamic countries.
He accused the Houthis and their supporters of pursuing dangerous intentions, although the supplied statement did not identify those supporters or provide evidence regarding their involvement.
Ashrafi said Muslim leaders needed to reach an unequivocal joint decision.
Saudi Authorities Report Missile Interceptions
The remarks follow Saudi Civil Defense reports that two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis towards the Makkah and Madinah regions were intercepted on October 24. Authorities reported falling debris at several locations, including Makkah, Jeddah, Taif and Rabigh. These reports concern the wider regions and do not establish that either holy mosque was struck.
Reuters reported that the Houthis claimed attacks on Saudi oil facilities. The differing accounts make attribution essential when describing the intended targets of the launches.
Ashrafi reiterated that Muslims stood shoulder to shoulder with the Saudi leadership and public over the defence and security of the Haramain Sharifain.

The statement called for translating that solidarity into coordinated international engagement, with emergency discussions at the OIC and Security Council forming the central demand of his response.
