KARACHI: Mominabad Investigation Police have recovered a woman reported abducted and arrested a suspect named in the case, following a complaint that raised allegations concerning a second marriage, according to police.
The woman, identified as Komal, was recovered during an operation by the investigation team.
Police said Amin, son of Saleemuddin, was taken into custody in connection with the registered case. Further investigation remains underway.
According to the police account, complainant Muhammad Araf Shahid stated that he had contracted a court marriage with Komal approximately one year earlier.
However, he told investigators that her rukhsati, the customary departure of a bride to live with her husband, had not taken place after the nikah. Komal had therefore continued living with her mother.
The complaint described this living arrangement as the background to the missing-person report and the subsequent request for police intervention.
The supplied account does not include marriage documents or an independent account from Komal regarding either relationship.
Shahid said Komal’s mother contacted him on October 21 and informed him that her daughter had left home at approximately 8am but had not returned.
According to the complainant, information he subsequently obtained suggested that Komal had been in contact with Amin and had allegedly contracted a marriage with him.
Shahid then requested legal action. These assertions form part of his complaint and should be distinguished from findings established through investigation or court proceedings.
The police account provided no further details about where Komal went after leaving home, how the alleged second marriage came to the complainant’s attention, or the circumstances surrounding her absence.
Acting on the report, the Mominabad investigation team recovered Komal and arrested Amin, police said.
The supplied statement did not identify the location of the recovery or arrest.
It also did not specify the legal provisions included in the case, whether any additional individuals were being investigated, or whether the suspect had appeared before a court.
Woman’s Account Not Included in Report
Police said further investigation was continuing. However, the available account did not include Komal’s statement, her age, or her explanation of the events.

It therefore leaves unresolved whether she left voluntarily or experienced coercion.
The allegation of abduction and the circumstances of the reported marriage remain matters for investigation. Amin’s arrest does not establish guilt, and no court determination was reported.
