TTP-India Nexus Exposed? Gul Bahadur-Linked Afghan Taliban Member Gets Surgery in India

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s longstanding concerns over cross-border terrorism have come under renewed focus following reports that an Afghan Taliban member allegedly linked to the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) Gul Bahadur Group underwent surgery in India, raising fresh questions about the possible connections and facilitation networks surrounding regional militant elements.

The reported development has added another dimension to Pakistan’s concerns about the activities of militant groups operating from neighbouring territories and the potential support networks that enable their members to access logistical and medical facilities beyond their areas of operation.

Pakistan has consistently urged the international community, particularly regional stakeholders, to take concrete measures against terrorist sanctuaries and prevent militant organizations from using neighbouring territories to plan and facilitate attacks against Pakistani citizens and security forces.

Islamabad has repeatedly maintained that the presence of TTP militants in Afghanistan and their ability to operate across the border pose a serious threat to regional security. Pakistani authorities have also called for the implementation of counterterrorism commitments to ensure that Afghan territory is not used for activities against Pakistan.

The Gul Bahadur Group, an affiliate associated with the wider TTP militant network, has been linked to attacks targeting Pakistani security personnel and civilians. Its alleged connections with individuals operating across the region have further heightened security concerns.

The reported medical treatment in India, if independently verified, warrants closer scrutiny regarding the circumstances of the case and any possible facilitation involved. However, the reported incident alone does not establish official Indian involvement or state-level support for militant activities.

Pakistan maintains that lasting regional peace, economic cooperation and connectivity cannot be achieved without eliminating terrorist safe havens and ensuring that no militant organization receives operational or logistical support.

Islamabad continues to emphasize that combating terrorism requires practical cooperation, accountability and verifiable action rather than diplomatic assurances alone.
