Gold Price Trajectory in Pakistan (2023–2026)
Over the past three years (2023–2026), Pakistan’s domestic gold market has experienced historic volatility and unprecedented upward momentum, driven by a combination of domestic currency depreciation, global inflation, and international geopolitical tensions.
In 2023, 24-karat gold traded near the Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 210,000 per tola range.
This period was largely defined by sharp domestic currency devaluation, as the Pakistani Rupee reached historic lows against the US Dollar.
To protect capital against severe inflation and currency depreciation, local investors turned heavily to gold as a primary safe-haven asset, driving domestic demand and widening local premiums above international spot rates.
By 2024 and 2025, global macroeconomic shifts took center stage. Major central banks globally began aggressive gold accumulation strategies alongside global interest rate cuts.
International spot prices rallied to consecutive high marks, pushing Pakistan’s per-tola prices past Rs. 250,000 in 2024 and beyond Rs. 370,000 in 2025.
The upward surge peaked in early 2026, when international spot gold rallied dramatically to hit historic high thresholds.
Domestic 24-karat gold touched an all-time peak of over Rs. 570,000 per tola in late January 2026. Subsequent months saw global profit-taking, higher yields, and stabilization in commodity markets, leading to gradual corrections down to the Rs. 400,000–Rs. 430,000 range.
