Government Slashes Fuel Prices in Pakistan as Petrol Drops by Over Rs 9 Per Litre

ISLAMABAD: In a major relief to consumers, the federal government has announced a significant reduction in fuel prices in Pakistan, cutting the rates of petrol and high-speed diesel for the upcoming fortnight.

According to the official notification, the price of petrol has been reduced by Rs 9.41 per litre, bringing the new price down to Rs 352.59 per litre.

Meanwhile, high-speed diesel witnessed a price cut of Rs 5.56 per litre, adjusting its new rate to Rs 382.25 per litre.

The government periodically revises petroleum product rates based on global market dynamics, exchange rate fluctuations, and import costs.

Officials confirmed that the revised fuel prices in Pakistan have taken immediate effect and will remain valid until November 6.

The decision to decrease prices comes as a welcome relief for transporters, businesses, and everyday commuters who have been grappling with high operational costs.

High-speed diesel is widely utilized in heavy transport, agriculture, and industrial power generation; hence, its price reduction is expected to lower transportation expenses and ease inflationary pressures across supply chains.

Economic experts believe that stabilizing global crude oil trends contributed directly to lowering the overall cost structure of petroleum imports, allowing the government to pass down the financial benefit to the public.

Finance ministry representatives noted that continuous monitoring of international oil indices will determine future pricing adjustments.

By revising petroleum rates downward, the government aims to provide short-term economic relief to citizens while balancing fiscal requirements.

Throughout 2026, fuel prices in Pakistan experienced notable fluctuations, driven primarily by shifts in international crude oil benchmarks and local currency dynamics.

While global oil price movements dictated basic import costs, periodic government revisions aimed to balance consumer relief with revenue requirements.
