ISLAMABAD: Gold prices have been decreased across Pakistan once again.
According to the sources, following two consecutive days of price hikes, gold and silver prices drop in local and global markets after experiencing a sharp decline today.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of 24-karat gold plunged by PKR 2,100 per tola to settle at PKR 439,936, while the price of 10 grams of gold decreased by PKR 1,800 to stand at PKR 377,174.
The precious metals sector experienced a broad correction as silver also tracked the downward trend, with per-tola silver dropping by PKR 23 to reach PKR 6,532.
In line with domestic adjustments, bullion saw a significant retreat abroad, leading observers to note that gold and silver prices drop in local and global markets as spot gold shed $21 per ounce to settle at $4,174 in international trading.
Note: Gold Prices in Pakistan Over the Past Two Years
Over the past two years, gold prices in Pakistan have witnessed extraordinary volatility, reflecting both domestic economic pressures and global financial dynamics.
The surge in gold valuations has been largely driven by local currency depreciation, high inflation rates, and international bullion trends, making the precious metal a primary hedge for investors seeking to protect their capital against economic instability.
During this two-year period, domestic gold prices scaled unprecedented peaks, routinely breaking historic records as global markets reacted to interest rate shifts, geopolitical uncertainties, and central bank reserve purchases.
In Pakistan, the rapid fluctuation in the PKR-to-USD exchange rate amplified international price movements, causing per-tola prices to rise dramatically compared to historical averages.
Investors increasingly turned to physical gold and bullion products amidst uncertain equity markets and low yields on conventional savings instruments.
However, the market has also experienced sharp intermittent corrections. Local demand frequently recalibrated in response to purchasing power constraints, seasonal wedding demand, and global profit-taking trends, which often saw gold and silver prices drop in local and global markets simultaneously.
Despite these occasional pullbacks, the broader two-year trend highlights gold’s enduring status as a safe-haven asset in Pakistan.
