DUBAI: ICC has fined Pakistan for slow over rate in the Tri-Series final.
According to the details, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a financial penalty on the national team after Pakistan fined for slow over rate in tri-series final against Sri Lanka at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
According to ICC sources, the Pakistani team was docked 20 percent of their match fee for bowling one over short of the target within the allotted time during Saturday’s final match against Sri Lanka.
Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees handed down the sanction after Pakistan was found guilty of violating Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
The offense was confirmed by the on-field and TV umpires, and Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi accepted the sanction without a formal hearing.
In the match, Pakistan successfully chased down Sri Lanka’s target of 326 runs in the 49th over with seven wickets down, powered by a brilliant century from Fakhar Zaman alongside solid contributions from Arafat Minhas, Saad Baig, and Hasan Nawaz.

Historically, Pakistan holds the upper hand in the overall head-to-head record against Sri Lanka, boasting a higher win percentage fueled by memorable performances in both multi-nation tournaments and bilateral series.
Matchups between the two sides are often characterized by intense battles between Pakistan’s fast-bowling attack and Sri Lanka’s dynamic batting lineup and spin variations.
Despite Pakistan’s overall numerical lead, clashes between the two nations remain closely contested, particularly in high-stakes matches such as the Asia Cup and ICC events.
