DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The authorities have imposed Section 144 in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan Division amid security concerns and efforts to maintain law and order.
According to notifications issued by the administration, restrictions have been imposed across Dera Ismail Khan Division, including Tank, Upper South Waziristan and Lower South Waziristan. The measures include restrictions on the movement of certain vehicles and, in some areas, limitations on public movement along designated routes.
In Lower South Waziristan, restrictions have been imposed in Wana and Azam Warsak on the movement of loader rickshaws, single- and double-cabin cargo vehicles, Shehzore trucks, Mazda vehicles, Suzuki loaders and dumpers.
According to the notification, these restrictions came into effect at 9pm on October 1 and will remain in force until 9pm on October 10.
Restrictions in Upper South Waziristan
Similar restrictions have also been introduced in Upper South Waziristan. The movement of loader rickshaws, cargo vehicles, Shehzore trucks, Mazda vehicles, Suzuki loaders, tractor-trolleys and dumpers has been restricted.
The restrictions in the district are scheduled to remain in place from October 3 to October 5, according to the notification.
Movement Curbs in Dera Ismail Khan
Several roads and routes in Dera Ismail Khan have also been affected by the security measures. Movement has been restricted on Tank Road, routes around Kulachi, Hathala, Kot Atal and Garh Abdullah, as well as a number of link roads.
These restrictions will remain in effect from October 4 to October 6, between 6am and 6pm. Potta Hathala Bazaar will also remain closed during the specified period.
In Tank district, restrictions have been imposed on the movement of individuals, passenger and cargo vehicles and motorcycles along various routes.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain effective from 9pm on October 3 until noon on October 5.
Authorities have stated that emergency movement carried out with the permission of law enforcement agencies, emergency services and security forces will remain exempt from the restrictions.
The administration has warned that violations of Section 144 will result in legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Section 188 relates to disobedience of an order duly promulgated by a public servant. Authorities have urged residents and transporters to comply with the restrictions during the specified periods.
Previous Restrictions in DI Khan
This is not the first time that Section 144 has been imposed in Dera Ismail Khan because of law-and-order concerns. On September 3, similar restrictions were imposed in the district, including the closure of several roads.
