PM Directs Swift Repatriation of Pakistani Nationals' Mortal Remains from Somalia

ISLAMABAD: Final preparations are underway to repatriate the mortal remains of three Pakistani citizens who lost their lives in Somalia, following directives issued by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to an official statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on social media platform X, the remains of the deceased identified as Syed Kashif Umar, Ahmed Ansari, and Rafiullah have arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ethiopian Airlines personnel are currently handling the necessary logistics and administrative protocols before granting final clearance for their transit to Karachi.

The PMO confirmed that diplomatic and consular authorities remain in close coordination to expedite the process and ensure the early transfer of the deceased back to Pakistan.

The development follows a telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azhan Kashif, the son of Syed Kashif Umar, on Saturday. During the call, the Prime Minister conveyed his profound condolences to the grieving family and assured them that the state would extend all required support to bring the remains home without delay.
