ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the initial player recruitment process for the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), with the tournament scheduled to run from March 18 to May 2, 2027.
The PCB said the direct player signing window for PSL 12 will remain open from October 23 to November 23, 2026. During this period, each franchise will be allowed to directly sign one marquee player, provided the player did not feature in either of the previous two editions of the league.
The arrangement will give franchises an opportunity to secure a key player before the auction, which is scheduled for January 23, 2027. The remaining squad-building process will continue through the auction.
The decisions were discussed at a PSL Governing Council meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, franchise representatives and other officials attended the meeting.
According to the PCB, participants reviewed preparations for the tournament, player recruitment and plans to expand the league to more cities across Pakistan.
The 12th edition of the PSL is expected to be played in five to six cities across the country from March 18 to May 2, 2027.
The PCB also announced that the Gold and Silver editions of the National T20 Cup will be held before the PSL.
Speaking after the meeting, Mohsin Naqvi described the PSL as Pakistan’s biggest cricketing stage. He said the 11th edition had concluded in front of record crowds and that the board intended to build on that momentum.
Naqvi added that the league would be taken to more cities this time.
PSL CEO Salman Naseer said the race to build the strongest possible squads for PSL 12 had begun, with franchises now able to start recruiting marquee players ahead of the auction.
