Field Marshal Vows to Hit India-Sponsored Terrorist Groups Hard Wherever They Are

PESHAWAR: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has vowed to continue operations against Indian-sponsored terrorist groups with full intensity, saying they would face forceful action wherever they were found.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Corps Headquarters in Peshawar on Friday, October 23, where he received a briefing on the prevailing security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ongoing counterterrorism operations, border management and the operational readiness of deployed troops.

The field marshal commended the troops’ professionalism and high morale, directing them to remain vigilant against emerging threats and maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness.

He also paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistani people and security forces in the fight against terrorism, reaffirming the resolve to eliminate Indian-sponsored terrorist groups.

Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed confidence that, with the support of the Pakistani people, the country would decisively defeat terrorists and their ideology.

His visit came a day after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a meeting of the Federal Apex Committee at Governor House in Peshawar to review the province’s security situation, counterterrorism measures and governance challenges. Field Marshal Asim Munir, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, federal ministers and senior civil and military officials attended the meeting.

During Thursday’s meeting, Shehbaz Sharif defended the imposition of emergency and Governor’s Rule in KP, describing the decision as having been taken under extraordinary circumstances amid worsening security concerns. He pledged that the federal government and military leadership would work together to restore lasting peace and accelerate development in the province.

The federal government has justified the measures by citing the deteriorating security situation and alleging that the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial administration failed to cooperate adequately in counterterrorism efforts. PTI has rejected the federal government’s allegations and challenged the intervention.
