Gold Prices in Pakistan over the Past Two Years
Over the past two years (2024–2026), gold prices in Pakistan have experienced unprecedented volatility and structural upward shifts, driven by a combination of domestic economic pressures and global macroeconomic trends.
As traditional currency markets faced persistent inflation, gold emerged as one of the primary safe-haven assets for Pakistani investors, leading to a sustained surge in domestic demand for physical bullion and coins.
During this period, international spot gold rallied from under $2,300 per ounce in early 2024 to historical highs near the $3,900 mark by 2026.
Global central bank purchases, geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Europe, and shifting monetary policies by major central banks fueled this international Bull Run.
Locally, the exchange rate of the Pakistani Rupee against the US Dollar heavily dictated domestic pricing.
The All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association continuously recalibrated rates to account for local currency fluctuations and international benchmarks.
Despite temporary pullbacks such as instances where gold price in Pakistan decreases by Rs 10,800 per tola due to brief market corrections or profit-taking phases the long-term trajectory over the past two years remained exceptionally strong.
The price per tola crossed consecutive historic thresholds, rising from around Rs 240,000 in early 2024 to firmly cementing itself above the Rs 400,000 milestone in 2026.
