WASHINGTON: Major US Military Movement in the Middle East is underway as the United States prepares to deploy up to 10,000 additional troops to the region amid the possibility of further military action against Iran.
According to US officials, the new deployment will involve two major naval groups and is expected to significantly increase the American military presence in the region.
The personnel being deployed include more than 7,000 sailors and over 2,000 Marines. The deployment includes the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, while the USS Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group is also being sent toward the region.
Major US Military Movement in the Middle East
Following the new deployment, as many as three US aircraft carriers could be present in the Middle East by the end of October.
The move would mark a significant increase in US naval and air power in the region. Including personnel already stationed there, the number of US sailors and Marines could exceed 20,000, while hundreds of American aircraft could also be present.
The increase comes as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high, while diplomatic contacts and efforts to address the situation continue.
Possibility of Further US Action Against Iran
US President Donald Trump has not ruled out the possibility of further action against Iran.
Trump has said that the United States could potentially intensify bombing operations against Iran after the November 3 US elections.
His remarks have added to concerns over further escalation in the region. However, US officials have not explicitly linked the latest troop deployment to any specific planned operation against Iran.
The growing presence of US military assets is being viewed in the broader context of tensions between Washington and Tehran.
Trump Refers to FlyDubai Incident
Trump also referred to an alleged attempt to attack the pilot of a FlyDubai flight bound for Israel. According to Trump, preliminary evidence suggests a possible connection between the alleged co-pilot involved in the incident and Iran.
The US president said that if an Iranian connection is established, the United States would take strong retaliatory action. However, further investigation would be required to establish definitive responsibility for the incident.

The matter has added another dimension to the existing tensions between the United States and Iran, while any response from Tehran could further affect the situation.
Iran Ceasefire Proposal Rejected
Trump has also said that he rejected Iran’s latest ceasefire proposal. According to Trump, Iran’s offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz was not sufficient. The Strait of Hormuz is a strategically important maritime route for global energy trade, with large quantities of oil and other energy products passing through the waterway to international markets.
Any further escalation in the region could therefore have implications for global energy markets, particularly oil prices and international energy supplies.
