ISLAMABAD: A formal complaint has been submitted to Pakistan’s Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), seeking an investigation into alleged tax evasion, undeclared income and suspicious financial transactions involving family members and close associates of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
The complaint calls for a detailed examination of the assets, bank accounts, sources of income and financial dealings of five individuals, including Senator Kamran Murtaza, Lutifur Rehman, Ziaur Rehman, Asad Mahmood and Abrar Ahmed Khan.
It urges the tax authority to investigate whether the individuals concealed income, failed to declare assets or engaged in financial transactions in violation of Pakistan’s tax laws.
The complainant has specifically called for scrutiny of Senator Kamran Murtaza’s multiple bank accounts maintained in local and foreign currencies, seeking an examination of their financial activities and sources of funds.
Similarly, the complaint seeks an investigation into bank accounts and business activities linked to Lutifur Rehman, including whether his financial dealings comply with applicable tax regulations.
Regarding Ziaur Rehman, the complainant has alleged the presence of unexplained funds in various bank accounts and called on the FBR to establish their sources.
The tax authority has also been asked to examine Asad Mahmood’s bank accounts to determine whether any income or financial transactions were concealed from tax authorities.
In another part of the complaint, Abrar Ahmed Khan’s bank accounts, travel and tours business and related financial dealings have been flagged for investigation.
Scrutiny of assets, bank transactions
Beyond individual bank accounts, the complaint seeks an examination of financial transactions involving various welfare, educational and commercial organisations associated with the named individuals.
It asks the FBR to compare their declared assets and tax returns against bank transactions and other available financial records to identify any discrepancies.
The complainant has urged the tax authority to conduct an impartial investigation into suspected undeclared income and questionable financial transactions and initiate legal proceedings if violations are established.

The complaint places the financial affairs of individuals associated with Fazlur Rehman under scrutiny, raising questions that the FBR has been asked to examine through a formal review of their declared income, assets and financial activities.
However, the allegations remain unverified, and the submission of a complaint does not establish that any of the named individuals committed tax evasion or violated financial laws. No findings by the FBR or responses from the individuals concerned were included in the information provided.
